These are KASA’s Best Beaches in Phuket
If you are looking for the best beach in Thailand, you’ll be hard pressed to find an answer. That’s because there are so many beautiful beaches on offer that it becomes impossible to wade through all of them and decide. But there is only one place in The Land of Smiles where you can find a multitude of world-class beaches close to one another, and that place is Phuket.
Phuket may not have the single most impressive beach in Thailand (Railay comes to mind), but as a beach destination, the island shines brighter than any other. In fact, the island mirrors Thailand in the sense that searching for the best beach in Phuket becomes a near impossible task. If you do a quick search on Google, you’ll be confronted by web pages listing more than 30 of the best beaches in Phuket. And the competition is so stiff that number 1 on yesterday’s list can just as easily be number 20 on tomorrow’s.
With this in mind, we have hazarded the task of distilling our experience into a list of 5 best beaches in Phuket. So without further ado, here they are:
- Freedom Beach
Feel free to disagree, but Freedom Beach has everything we look for in a paradise beach. The beach feels quaint and private, being only a few hundred meters in length and somewhat less accessible than the longer, more popular beaches in Phuket. It also boasts some of the most pristine-looking sand on the entire island. You won’t find boisterous watersports in the vicinity, which sets me mood for pure relaxation. All in all, Freedom Beach is a must visit.
- Kata Beach
Kata Beach appeals to those looking for a slightly livelier, but nevertheless laidback beach experience. The beach is roughly 1.5km long, and popular. It is a favourite spot among surfers on the island, with a few trendy beach bars scattered about. Kata is a lot less remote, but every bit as beautiful as Freedom Beach. So if you are looking for something on the vibier side of the spectrum, Kata Beach is for you.
- Nai Harn Beach
Nai Harn had remained under the radar for quite some time, but has since seen a lot more attention from those looking for a fun day at the beach. And they are never disappointed. Nai Harn Beach, although growing in popularity, has managed to stave off development. As such, it retains a great deal of natural beauty and makes for an awesome spot to chill. The area has a great atmosphere and should not be overlooked.
- Karon Beach
Karon Beach made our list because of it’s shoreline. The Beach stretches for over 3 kms, is impressively straight and has very little in the way of rocks. All things considered, Karon makes for an amazing beach for frisbee, volleyball, football etc. as well as being an awesome spot to swim. If you like to be active on the sand, Karon will suit you well.
- Nai Thon Beach
Nai Thon Beach is in the process of getting a bit of a facelift, at least just behind the beach where newer restaurants and establishments are popping up. It’s located in a beautiful section of coastline where you will find plenty of prime opportunities to snorkel and scuba dive. The water here is clear and accommodating, and you can explore the rich underwater environment without much difficulty.
That concludes our list of the best beaches in Phuket. You can’t go wrong visiting any of these spots, but you should pick carefully for maximum satisfaction. Choose according to your tastes, make sure you apply enough sunscreen and you’ll be bound for a great experience.
